Welcome to Ruddick Stables
Indiana Bred Option: With the recent changes to the Indiana program and breeders wishing to take advantage of all the benefits available, we have received much interest in boarding broodmares at the farm. The future value of foals meeting the residency requirements makes keeping mares in Indiana a wise decision. Shipped semen allows our clients to breed to the stallion of their choice. Thank you to all clients who entrusted their mares to us!

The foaling/breeding season is about to get underway! With our first foal due to arrive February 17, we are expecting 20 babies this year. Be sure to check back for updates and photos throughout the foaling season!!!
Foal Alert System in use: In addition to our online cameras, we have added the popular Foal Alert System to our foaling protocol. This technology is helpful when foaling, to make sure an attendant is with the mare in a timely fashion. A transmitter is attached directly to the mare. When she starts to go into labor, a signal is sent to the autodialer to notify us of the situation. Our system can call up to 4 people for assistance. This is another way we are striving to provide the best possible mare care for our clients.
Welcome to new clients: Peter & Melanie Wrenn recently decided to breed their top race mare, Amarillo Sky. Arriving in foal to Total Truth (Indiana), we are glad they chose us for the boarding and care of their mare. With the addition of I Had A Ball, we are happy to welcome the partnership of Pacey Mindlin and Kenneth Cohen as clients. Their mare comes to us from our friend and fellow trainer, Jim "Bill" Dailey. She is in foal to Panspacificflight. Following their success with Flight Elal, the stallion choice was a given.
Mr. Ridgetaker has excellent freshman season: Miss Risktaker's second living foal, Mr Ridgetaker (2,1:57.3f; $105,354), won his first career start in impressive fashion, setting a National Season's Record. He also won the Arden Stake at The Meadows. In addition, he was 2nd in 2 legs of the lucrative Pennsylvania Sires Stakes. He won the William Wellwood Consolation and was 3rd in the Champlain Stake at Mohawk Racetrack in Canada. Born and raised at Ruddick Stables, he has resumed training for his 3 year old season. Congratulations to owners Rick & Regina Beinhauer.
Inaugural Indiana Premier Yearling Sale completed: With an average of $14,925/head, our first major consignment at a public auction was included in the 2011 Indiana Premier Yearling Sale.
Open mares are under lights: As we prepare for the 2012 breeding season, we have put all open mares at the farm under lights. Please let us know your stallion selections ASAP.
We recently lost a friend: On Thursday, December 8, we learned of the passing of our friend Steve Gray. For a complete obituary: CLICK HERE
Stacey Ruddick completes continuing education course: Building on the skills from the 2 breeding courses at Colorado State University last year, Stacey attended an intensive ultrasounding workshop in California in early January. This should allow us to work even more closely with our consulting veterinarians and continue to improve the services available to our clients.
Best wishes in 2012: We would like to thank all of our clients and vendors for their role in allowing us to have a successful year in 2011. We are looking forward to a great 2012.
